Upside for Singapore REITs Might Be Limited in 2025
Some strategists think that US 10-year yields may rise from 4.2% to 5%, which would limit any gains for Singapore REITs.
With Powell signalling that the Fed might not cut as much as the market expects, the 10-year US Treasury yield have hit 4.45% and is now well above its low of 3.65% in mid-September 2024. That’s a huge move and it provokes speculation on how much higher yields might go. At the same time, Singapore REITs were under a lot of pressure over the week.
Some strategists think that the long end will test 5% in the next 6 months. Arif Husain, head of fixed income at T Rowe Price, gives three reasons for rising bond yields in the immediate future.
