How to Lightly Wean Your Child Off Screentime: Part II
Why an outright ban would not work and what to do instead.
In Part II of this series, How to Lightly Wean Your Child Off Excessive Screentime, I will continue with Step 4 to 6 on how to limit screentime successfully for your child. Steps 1 to 3 can be found in the earlier article, linked below.
You may ask, why do I need to wean my child off his or her screens? Your child may or may not be showing some of these symptoms below:
Falling asleep at strange times in the day
Irritability and mood shifts
Tense anxiety ahead of and during exams
Inability to overcome small setbacks
Difficulty in studying due to greater allure of screentime
Problems with putting away screens at night
If you child is showing the above symptoms, it is highly likely that he or she is addicted to screens. If that is the case, there will be a difficult weaning off period followed by the alleviation of these symptoms, if you decide to take the difficult but doable task of weaning your child off his or her screens.
